Made this in a pot-luck party and everybody loves it! The second time I modify the process, fully distribute the sugar and cinnamon to each slice of apple and thought it would taste better, ... noop, don't change a thing! just follow the original simple and easy way you will get the yummy result.
German Apple Pie
Ingredients
* 6 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced
* 1 cup sugar
* 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
* 1 cup heavy cream
Method:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Mix sugar, flour and cinnamon together in a medium bowl. Sprinkle 3 tbsp of sugar mixture into prepared pie crust. Top with 1/2 of the apples.
Sprinkle with half of the remaining sugar mixture and top with remaining apples. Sprinkle remaining sugar mixture over apples and pour heavy cream evenly over apples and sugar.
Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350 degrees and cook for an additional 55 to 60 minutes. Cool completely before serving.
p.s. a friend tried this recipe and told me she used rice flour instead of wheat flour, slightly stirred till it's quite warm in a hot pan, and it tastes great!
